A couple, both aged in their 80s, have died after a fire at their home in Birmingham.
The blaze, at their flat in Hickory Drive, Edgbaston, started on Tuesday in an airing cupboard where electrical equipment had been, crews said.
The couple were rescued by firefighters but were pronounced dead at hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation.
An investigation is under way into the cause of the fire. It is not yet known what the electrical equipment was.
Ambulance crews tried to resuscitate the couple on their lawn but they were later confirmed dead at City Hospital.
Neighbours said the woman was partially sighted.
Jeremy Sharpe, from West Midlands Fire Service, said preliminary findings indicated there had been "heating and electrical wiring" in the airing cupboard.
