Flood warnings issued for River Cole in Birmingham

Heavy rain led to two flood warnings being issued for people living close to a Birmingham river.

The Environment Agency issued the warning for the River Cole in Hall Green and Solihull Lodge.

A spokesman said persistent rain during the night had increased the river's water levels.

Properties in the Sarehole and Nethercote Gardens area were at risk of flooding, the agency said. The warnings were stood down later on Saturday.

Flood alerts remained in place for the rivers Rea and Cole.
