Halesowen murder suspect questioned over woman's death

A murder inquiry has been started over the death of a woman in Halesowen.

Police were called to a house in Brier Mill Road at 1850 GMT on Wednesday where they found the body of a woman in her 60s.

A 67-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

The woman's family have been informed but police have not released her name yet. A post-mortem examination would take place in due course, police said.

West Midlands Police acting Det Ch Insp Wayne Jones said: "This appears to be an isolated incident where a woman has tragically lost her life.

"Local officers will be in the area today to offer some reassurance to the community who will doubtless be distressed by what has happened in their neighbourhood."
