Two men have been arrested on suspicion of wounding after an assault which left a man in a life-threatening condition.

The victim, aged 34, was found unconscious on Duke Street in Wednesfield after leaving The Angel pub at 1245 BST on Sunday.

Two men, aged 20 and 21, were arrested on Wednesday and bailed pending further inquiries.

The injured man is now stable. A second man, aged 37, was also found at the scene with minor injuries.

The West Midlands force has appealed for any taxi company which delivered a fare to the pub at that time to contact police.

CCTV footage showed a group of three men and two women, some of whom police believe to be part of the assault, walking the same route as the victims along High Street to Lichfield Road and then on to Duke Street.
