Halesowen street closed after man arrested with knife

A man has been arrested after people were threatened with a knife in a West Midlands street.

Police said they received a call from a member of the public at 1030 BST after a man was seen on Clement Road, in Halesowen, with a large knife.

A spokesman said they used a taser during the arrest of the 27-year-old.

He added he was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and is being questioned by police.

'Forensically examined'

Det Insp Nigel Smith said: "At this early stage of the inquiry is it thought a number of people were threatened by this man, including two police officers who initially arrived at the scene.

"Thankfully no one was injured.

"The street has now been cordoned off to allow the scene to be forensically examined."

Anyone who was in the area and may have information to help officers is asked to contact West Midlands Police.
