A 92-year-old woman found with a head injury at her West Midlands home was murdered, police say.

Officers were called to Daisy Myring's home in Albion Road, Brownhills, Walsall, at about 0710 BST on Tuesday.

Detectives said a post-mortem examination revealed she died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head and body.

Police are questioning a woman, 36, and a 40-year-old man, both from Cannock, arrested on suspicion of murder.

Ms Myring died in hospital after she was taken there from her home.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said "thorough examinations" had taken place at the address and would continue on Wednesday.

Officers are also continuing to carry out patrols in the area to reassure residents.

Acting Det Ch Insp Wayne Jones said: "We would like to appeal for anyone who may have any information to come forward and contact us.

"Anyone who comes forward with information will be treated in the strictest confidence."
