Body of teenager found under M6 flyover in Birmingham

Police are investigating after a 19-year-old man's body was found beneath an M6 flyover in Birmingham.

Thomas Healy, a student from Kingstanding, was discovered near an industrial estate in Erdington at about 16:34 BST on Saturday.

Officers said he was last been seen alive walking along the hard shoulder of the northbound carriageway between junctions 5 and 6 at about 00:07 BST.

Police are treating his death as unexplained.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said it was believed Mr Healy had previously been on board a minibus with friends travelling along the northbound carriageway.

It is thought that the vehicle stopped on the hard shoulder and the teenager got out at about 23:45 BST on Friday.

His body was found close to the Hurricane Park Industrial Estate, in Heartlands Parkway.

Acting Insp Tex Bate said: "We would like to hear from any drivers using the motorway who may have seen Thomas after he left the minibus on the M6 in the early hours up until his body was found later that day.

"We are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and are appealing for any witnesses to contact police."
