CCTV footage of a man police want to trace following a shooting in Birmingham has been released.

Armed police were called to a house in Cotterills Lane, Alum Rock, on 19 April after reports of shots being fired.

A 49-year-old man was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg.

West Midlands Police said the CCTV footage showed a suspect pulling up in a car just before the attack and approaching the address with what officers believe was a firearm.

Det Con Michelle Ohren said: "While the footage does not clearly show the suspect's face, I'm hoping that someone may recognise his mannerisms, the way in which he walks or the car he's using."

The shots were fired through the window of the house.

Police said the motive for the shooting was "unclear" but they did not believe the victim was the intended target.

The victim has been discharged from hospital but is still undergoing treatment, a police spokesman said.
