Man impaled on railing in Hockley released by fire crew

A man was impaled on a fence when a railing went through his leg in Birmingham.

Fire crews were called to New Hall Hill, Hockley, shortly after 09.30 BST after reports a 34-year-old man was injured.

A crew tried to release him by using cutting equipment, before a specialist team was brought in to suspend him in a sling while the railings were cut.

The man was taken to hospital with part of the railing still in his leg.
