A man has been jailed for life for using a large stone in a sock as a weapon to murder a man.

Derek Law, 29, from Willenhall, killed Jagjit Singh Villhku, after beating him and taking a picture of his injuries on his mobile phone.

Mr Villhku's body was found on January 24 on land off St Anne's Road, with severe facial and head injuries.

Law was sentenced to life imprisonment at Wolverhampton Crown Court and told he will serve a minimum of 19 years.

Det Sgt Harry May, from West Midlands Police, said the men had been "once loyal friends" and had been drinking in the Willenhall area on the night of the murder.

Following the murder, Law confessed to family members that he had killed someone and later showed photos he had taken of the body on his mobile phone.

Mr May added: "My thoughts go out to Jagjit's family, hoping that they can take some comfort that justice has been done here today and begin to attempt to rebuild their lives."
