Two London 2012 volunteers have got married in an Olympic-themed wedding.

Nicola-Jane Stanton, 42, and Graham Clegg, 52, from Walsall, said their vows at All Saints Church in Bloxwich on the day of the opening ceremony.

Decorations for the reception included Olympic memorabilia and the couple plan to show the opening ceremony at the evening reception.

They are both London 2012 Local Leaders and helped plan sports events in their area before the Games.

The couple, who both work as teachers at Cheslyn Hay Sport and Community College in Walsall, said they had chosen the date deliberately.

'Magical' day

Miss Stanton said: "Rather than try and hide the fact and pretend it's a normal day, obviously we had to go for it.

"The build up to the Olympics has been the build up to the wedding as well and we've all been quite excited about it all.

"What better day than the Olympics to get married? It's just magical."

The couple gave chocolate gold medals as wedding favours and put up a medal rostrum at the reception at a hotel in Walsall where guests could have their photographs taken.

Mr Clegg said: "It's a big day for the country but obviously a big day for me and Nicola so it's nice to be sharing it with the country, our special day."

The couple said they were taking a two-week honeymoon in Morocco but planned to watch the Olympics on television while out there.

"I did offer to go away later but I'm sure they'll be a TV there where we can see some of it," said Miss Stanton.
