A teenager has appeared in court charged with the murder of a boy outside a West Midlands club.

Ben Morutare, 16, from Walsall, died in hospital after being stabbed in the leg outside the Smethwick Home Guard and Old Comrades Club on 28 July.

A 17-year-old boy from Ladywood, Birmingham, appeared before magistrates in Warley on Wednesday.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday.

Det Ch Insp Bob Hazel, from West Midlands Police, said the inquiry was ongoing and urged more witnesses, or anyone with information to come forward.

"We would like to hear from anyone whose vehicle was parked in the car park or on the road near to the club on the night of the incident," he said.
