Cameron Marshall Ward named as boy fatally injured by car

A five-year-old boy who died after being hit by a car in Birmingham has been named by police.

Cameron Marshall Ward was struck by a blue Vauxhall Vectra on Court Lane in Erdington after 21:10 BST on Monday.

The five-year-old was with his father on an adult pushbike when the collision happened, police said.

Paramedics tried to resuscitate the child who was taken to hospital where he later died. The car driver has been interviewed voluntarily.

PC Karl Davies, from West Midlands Police, said: "Court Lane is a fairly busy street and we are hoping that people will have been in the area and seen what happened.

"A young boy has tragically lost his life and a family has been left shocked and grief stricken at his sudden death.

"We want to hear from anyone who can help our investigation at their earliest convenience."
