A car was "deliberately" driven into a group of around 15 people outside a pub, police said.

A 40-year-old man, who was outside the Rookery Tavern in Wood Street, Wolverhampton, suffered serious leg injuries.

West Midlands Police said a red car, believed to be a Ford Focus, left the scene after reports of a disorder at about 19:30 BST on Sunday.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police said he was held on suspicion of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm.

Det Insp Jim Munro said police were trying to trace the car and another man.

"It is believed the vehicle deliberately drove into the group of people outside the pub following a disorder," he said.

"Another man suffered slight injuries after the vehicle reversed again."
