Man killed in Coseley collision with police car

A van driver has died in a crash involving a police car in the West Midlands.

The man, who has not been named, died at the scene in Coseley at about 11:00 BST.

West Midlands Police said the Independent Police Complaints Commission had been informed.

The force said the marked police car was responding to "routine enquires" rather than an emergency and the driver was uninjured but "shaken".

Insp Paul Bennett, from the Regional Collision Investigation Unit, said the victim's family had been informed and were being supported by specialist officers.

"We have launched a full investigation and urge any witnesses to contact us as soon as possible," he said.
