A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a 26-year-old woman who went missing in West Bromwich.

Lidia Pascale, originally from Romania but living in the West Midlands, was last seen on 19 November.

Matthew Cherrington, 32, of High Street, West Bromwich, appeared before magistrates in Birmingham on Monday and was remanded in custody until a hearing at the city's crown court on Wednesday.

A second man, 37, remains in custody on suspicion of murder, officers said.

A property in High Street, West Bromwich, has been sealed off as part of forensic investigations.

West Midlands Police said Ms Pascale was still missing but they were now treating her disappearance as a murder inquiry.

She moved to Sandwell from Romania about a year ago and police said they were working with authorities in the country to keep her family informed.

Officers said Ms Pascale stayed at addresses in Smethwick and Foleshill, in Coventry.
