Five children and three women treated after Lye fire

Five children and three women were taken to hospital following a fire at block of flats in Stourbridge.

The fire broke out at the building in Claycroft Place, Lye, at about 1800 GMT on Monday.

Four girls and a boy, who are aged between six-months and 12 years, were taken to hospital along with their mothers.

They were not thought to be seriously injured. The fire is believed to have started in a bin chute

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "A father of one of the children was also treated but chose not to go to hospital.

"All of the patients were assessed and treated at the scene by ambulance staff before being taken to hospital - none were serious and were taken as a precaution."
