Police close Pontefract Park to vehicles at night

  • Published

West Yorkshire Police has said vehicles will not be allowed in Pontefract Park at night in an attempt to combat anti-social behaviour.

The force said the gate to the town's park would be locked from 2100 BST.

It comes after complaints from members of the public about the way cars, motorbikes and other vehicles were being driven inside the park.

The park is currently covered by a dispersal order under which people can be banned from the area for 24 hours.

Anyone returning within that time or refusing to leave can be arrested and faces three months in prison or a fine.
