A teenager has died after being knocked down by a bus in Wakefield.

The 18-year-old was hit by a single-decker bus just outside the city's bus station on Friday evening, West Yorkshire Police said.

The bus was travelling along Marshway towards Jacobs Well Lane when the accident happened. Police appealed for any witnesses to contact them.

Marshway was closed for several hours, causing major disruption to rush-hour traffic in the city centre.
