Shotgun threat to mother in Huddersfield robbery bid

A man pointed a sawn-off shotgun at a mother with her two young children in an attempted robbery in Huddersfield.

The woman and her two boys, aged two and five, were in the Newspoint shop in Grimescar Avenue, Birkby on Monday night when three masked men came in.

One of the men turned the weapon on the 24-year-old woman before demanding a staff member hand over cash.

The men fled empty-handed when an alarm was triggered. Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Police said the men were seen running away down Bromley Road and Lindale Avenue and then on to Storth's Road.

All three were wearing balaclavas.
