Four men charged with murder over South Elmsall assault

Four men have been charged with the murder of a man who died after being assaulted in a West Yorkshire town.

Ian Mark Smith, 22, died as a result of head injuries after an assault in Barnsley Road in South Elmsall at about 0150 GMT on Saturday.

The men were due to appear at Pontefract Magistrates' Court later.

Police said another man, aged in his 20s, was arrested on Monday night in connection with the incident and remains in custody.
