Lecturers at the universities of Leeds and Bradford who are members of the University and College Union are to go on strike in a row over their pensions.

The staff are taking action in protest over changes to their Universities Superannuation Scheme pension fund.

The National Union of Students has written to both of the universities urging them to avoid strike action.

Staff at both universities will picket their buildings from early on Tuesday, union officials said.
