An 83-year-old woman from south west Wales died when her car was in collision with a lorry near the Bath junction of the M4.

The motorway was closed westbound between junctions 18 and 19 following the crash, but has now fully reopened.

The Highways Agency said earlier delays could be expected between Chippenham and Bristol.

The crash, involving a Volkswagen Polo and a heavy goods vehicle, happened at about 0610 BST.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said the woman was from the Ammanford area.

At 1645 BST traffic was slow-moving westbound between junctions 18, Bath, and 20, the M5 intersection.

A Highways Agency spokesman say delays of up to 20 minutes could be expected.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area.
