Man 'seriously injured' in attack in Bristol

Police in Bristol are investigating an assault which left a man with serious injuries.

Officers were called to Redcross Street in the Old Market area of Bristol in the early hours of Sunday.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said a 20-year-old man had been arrested. "The area has been cordoned off and officers are searching the area for clues," he said.

The victim was taken to the city's Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The force spokesman added: "Anyone who witnessed the attack, which happened between 0415 and 0615 BST on 15 August, is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers anonymously."
