Manhole collapse risk shuts Bristol road

  • Published

A busy road in Bristol has been closed after concerns that a manhole in the middle of it was in danger of collapse.

A Wessex Water spokesman said the company was carrying out emergency repairs to the cover, on Whitehall Road.

He said a section between Russell Town Avenue and Carlton Park had been shut and diversions were in place along the A420 Church Road and Lawrence Hill.

It is hoped the road will reopen on Saturday, he added.
