Sex attack on Bristol woman in her home

A woman has been seriously injured by a man who sexually assaulted and then physically attacked her at her Bristol home.

The house was also set on fire in the incident, which happened at about 0530 BST.

The woman managed to make her way from the address in Bedminster to the nearest main road to get help.

Avon and Somerset Police said they were keeping an open mind about the attack and appealed for information.

A spokesman said: "An offender entered the property and subjected the victim to a serious sexual assault before physically assaulting her. The property was also set on fire.

"Police would like to take this opportunity to remind people to think about their personal safety as the dark nights approach."

The offender is described as white, skinny and aged in his late 20s to early 30s.
