Two are killed as car hits wall on A362 near Bristol

Two people in their 80s were killed when the car they were travelling in hit a wall on the A362 in north Somerset.

Emergency services were called to Farrington Gurney on Monday afternoon following reports two people were trapped in the wreckage.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said a women was declared dead at the scene and a man, believed to be the driver, died later in hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

"Anyone who saw a Toyota car being driven along the A362 near its junction with Marsh Lane at about 4pm on 25 October is asked to contact police," the force spokesman added.

The road was closed for five hours while the accident was investigated.
