The parents of a man who has been missing for six months have appealed for him to make contact before Christmas.

Timothy Foote, 39, was last seen at Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he was a patient, in June.

His mother Elaine Foote, from Yate, South Gloucestershire, said his disappearance had left a "gaping hole".

"We go to bed thinking about where he may be and wake up with those thoughts," she said.

Mr Foote was wearing summer clothes when he went missing, and had very little money. He needs medication.

"We cannot rest until we know he is safe," his mother said.

"Not knowing where he may be is our worst nightmare as a family.

"All we ask is that you pick up the phone and make our Christmas."

Det Ch Insp Will White said there had been a possible sighting of Mr Foote in the Castle Carey area of Somerset this week.

He asked Mr Foote to contact his family or anyone who has seen him to contact the force.
