Chickens killed in St Werburghs City Farm attack

Animals at St Werburghs City Farm in Bristol have been moved for the Christmas period after an attack left four chickens dead.

Managers at the farm said other animals were hit with sticks during a break-in on Sunday night.

Breeze blocks had been used to attack animals including the pigs, sheep and cows.

They added that one sheep had a "nasty injury on the head" and several pigs had scratches on them.

Tim Child, the farm's livestock manager, said the attack was the first in its 30-year history.

"The whole lot had been set on. There's no vandalism, it's purely attacks on the animals," he said.

Avon and Somerset Police appealed for witnesses to the incident, which they said happened between 1900 GMT on Sunday and 0800 GMT on Monday.
