The body of a woman which was found on industrial land in Bristol has been identified, police have said.

The woman's remains were discovered during work to clear overgrown land off Hallen Road in Avonmouth on 11 March.

Tests showed that her body could have been there for up to eight years. The land has been disused since 2007.

Avon and Somerset Police said they were in the process of informing the woman's next of kin about the find before her name was released.

The land, the former home of Sevalco Limited, is now owned by Viridor and is subject to a planning application for a recycling centre.

The woman's remains were fully clothed and police said there had been no effort to conceal her body.
