New primary school in old Bristol College buildings

A new primary school for more than 400 children is to be set up in buildings formerly used by the City of Bristol College.

At present the Bedminster campus is used by a number of community groups and includes a gym and large workshops.

Building work is due to start in February with an opening date of September 2014.

The decision comes amid a tendering process for the site - halted due to a lack of interest from developers.

Although the school will occupy one corner of the campus it is not yet known what will happen to the rest of the site.

The land is owned jointly by the city council, Knightstone Housing Association and the Homes and Communities Agency.
