Bristol electricity substation fire investigated

A blaze at an electricity substation in Bristol, which also affected two cars and two houses, is being investigated by police and fire officers.

Crews were called to the scene on Stanton Road, Southmead, at midnight.

They had to wait for confirmation the electricity had been turned off before they could begin tackling the fire.

A spokesman for Avon fire service said the substation was severely damaged, two cars were destroyed and two houses were affected by heat.
