Lisa Darlington killed in quad bike accident in Ibiza

A 45-year-old woman from Bristol suffered fatal head injuries when she was thrown from a quad bike while on holiday in Ibiza, an inquest has heard.

Lisa Darlington, who lived in Lawrence Weston, was riding as passenger on the bike which was being driven by her son Danny, last September.

Avon Coroner's Court was told the bike left the road and hit a wall.

The coroner recorded a verdict that she died as result of a road traffic collision.

The pair, who were on a family holiday, had been on a ride near Cala Llonga.

Mrs Darlington died a week after the crash in which her son suffered minor injuries.

'Induced coma'

Dr Peter Harrowing, assistant deputy coroner for Avon, said Mrs Darlington suffered severe head injuries.

"She was taken to hospital where she received emergency surgery and was placed in an induced coma. However, she died not recover," Dr Harrowing said.

An earlier post-mortem examination revealed the cause of death was cerebral trauma.

Mrs Darlington's family did not attend the inquest.
