M5 cash to cut congestion at bottle-neck junctions
Funding for projects to reduce queuing traffic at two bottle-neck junctions on the M5 has been announced by the Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin.
Some £1.7m has been awarded to South Gloucestershire as part of the national Pinch Point scheme which will be added to current council funding.
The money will go towards a £2.4m scheme to add extra lanes to roundabouts on junctions 17 and 16.
The work will complement Highways Agency improvements on the slip roads.
Design work on the projects will be carried out this year with construction due to start in 2014.
