Votes are being counted across Somerset for European elections

Votes are being counted after polling stations across the Somerset area have closed for the European elections.

Voters were electing six representatives to serve South West England in the European parliament.

MEPs are elected using a proportional representation system and parties are awarded seats depending on their share of votes.

Polling took place from 07:00 BST to 22:00 BST. Results will be announced late on Sunday.
