Pedestrian killed on Bristol city centre road

A pedestrian has died after he was struck by a car in Bristol city centre.

The man, who was in his fifties, suffered fatal injuries when he was hit by a silver Vauxhall Astra on Wilder Street.

Avon and Somerset Police said it was called to the scene shortly after 21:30 BST on Saturday.

The man was taken to Southmead Hospital, where he was declared dead. Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
