Leyhill Prison absconder Albert Stanley found in Worthing

A convicted murderer who was on the run from HMP Leyhill, has been found by police in Worthing, West Sussex.

Albert Edward Stanley, 63, was given a life sentence in 1980 for a murder he committed in East Sussex. He was transferred to Leyhill last year.

Stanley failed to return to the prison in South Gloucestershire on Monday after being allowed home leave in Guildford.

Avon and Somerset Police have thanked the public who provided information.
