A missing schoolgirl who is feared to have travelled to Syria has got married, her friends have told the BBC.

Yusra Hussien, 16, sparked an international search after she boarded an indirect flight to Turkey with Samya Dirie, 17, from London last September.

Her family, from Easton in Bristol, feared she had been "brainwashed or radicalised" online.

The South East Counter Terrorism Unit has taken over the search for the missing teenager.

Yusra was reported missing by her parents, who last saw her at about 07:00 BST on 24 September 2014.

They said their daughter left for school as usual but was not there when her father went to pick her up at 15:30.

In October her aunt Sucdi Ali said Yusra had spoken to friends on Facebook since going missing to say that she was "safe".
