Trolley on M4 motorway near Bristol 'risked lives'

A supermarket trolley thrown on to a busy motorway could have been a "serious risk to life", police have warned.

The trolley was thrown on to the M4 near Bristol at the Westerleigh Road bridge between junctions 18 and 19.

Officers said "at least" two vehicles hit the trolley and were damaged after it was thrown in the eastbound carriageway at about 01:15 GMT.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
