A man has been punched in the face in a homophobic attack.

The 19-year-old victim was verbally abused in Park Street, Bristol, by two men before one punched him in the face.

PC Leanne Weeks said: "This was an extremely unpleasant and unprovoked assault on a man who was targeted because of his sexuality.

"It's hard to understand how and why someone would do this and we'd urge people to come forward and help us if they can."

CCTV footage is being reviewed from the scene close to College Green and the OMG nightclub at 04:00 BST Sunday.
