Deadline for Huntingdonshire traveller site views

A consultation into possible locations for new traveller sites in an area of Cambridgeshire is in its final day.

Huntingdonshire District Council has been looking for residents' views on plans to put sites on public land, major development areas or on private land.

The council extended the consultation deadline because of high levels of public interest.

The information will be used to decide where the pitches should go.

The council must provide an extra 46 permanent pitches and about 10 transit pitches by 2021.

Executive councillor for strategic planning Doug Dew said: "No decisions have yet been made as to which are the best sites to meet our requirements and I would like to emphasise that we will be consulting again when we have done that further assessment."
