Images have been released of a man police want to speak after a girl was twice punched in the face at a McDonald's restaurant in Peterborough.

The 14-year-old victim was with friends in the restaurant in Bretton Way, Bretton, on 31 July.

Police have just released details and said a man aged between 21 and 40 was involved in an altercation with the group before he attacked the girl.

He is believed to have been with a woman and child.

'Nasty attack'

The man left the restaurant after the attack. His victim was taken to Peterborough District Hospital for treatment.

Det Con Neil Harding said: "This was a nasty attack on a young girl.

"The restaurant was busy at the time and we are keen to speak to anyone with any information to contact police.

"We would also like to trace the man pictured on this CCTV image as we believe he may have vital information to assist the investigation."
