A charity committed to improving community spirit in Cambridge has been awarded nearly £43,200 by the Big Lottery Fund.

Freedom Club TimeBank operates around Abbey Ward and works on the principle of people exchanging and sharing everyday skills with each other.

The club says it will use the money to expand its service.

More than £1m has been given to projects in the east in this round of lottery awards.

Sara Betsworth, from the Big Lottery Fund in the eastern region said: "Today's grant recipients show that the Reaching Communities programme continues to make a real difference to the lives of many disadvantaged people across the East of England."
