Plans to turn a former bingo hall in Cambridge into a burlesque club with dancers and other entertainments have been put forward.

Milton Keynes-based company No Saints want to open the Greene Room venue at 42 Hobson Street in the city.

The firm is applying to Cambridge City Council's licensing committee to be allowed to sell alcohol, put on plays, live music and dance performances.

The plan for the former Gala Bingo hall goes before councillors on 17 January.

No Saints said the new entertainment venue would be "fantastic" for Cambridge.

But Cambridgeshire Police has expressed concern about the impact of the club which it says in a report to the council would produce "adverse consequences for crime and disorder" of a new late night drinking venue in the area.
