Cambridgeshire County Council leader to stand down

The Leader of Cambridgeshire County Council has announced she will stand down in May.

Councillor Jill Tuck will hand over the leadership of the Conservative Group on the County Council at the annual general meeting.

She has led the council for almost three years and said she can longer continue for family reasons.

Ms Tuck said: "This is one of the hardest political decisions I have ever had to take.

"Due to family circumstances, it has become increasingly challenging for me to give the very significant time necessary to offer the leadership the county requires and deserves.

"It has been an honour to lead the council, and a privilege to serve Cambridgeshire and all its communities," she added.
