Cambridge rape probe witnesses sought

Police are investigating an attack on a woman who was raped in Cambridge.

The victim, who is in her 20s, had been at the Fez nightclub and was approached by a group of men at a taxi rank in the early hours of Saturday.

The woman left with the men and was taken to a house where she was raped.

The offenders are described as black and in their 20s. Officers want to talk to anyone who was in the Market Street or St Andrew's Street area at around 04:30 BST on Saturday.

They are also keen to trace the driver of a car who was flagged down by the woman and then drove her to the YMCA at about 06:15 BST.

Det Insp Richard Wall said the motorist was "not being treated as a suspect but may have vital information".

Police want to trace witnesses who may have been leaving other clubs at the same time.

"I would like to stress to the public that this type of incident is very rare and I have officers who are dedicating a lot of time and resources to catching these men," Det Insp Wall said.

"It is being treated as an isolated incident."
