Police target 'nuisance' drivers in Papworth

Convoys of "nuisance" drivers are being targeted by police in south Cambridgeshire.

It follows complaints from residents in Papworth who said large groups of motorists were gathering in business and car parks.

Sgt Paul Rogerson said vehicles could be seized, but only if they were driven "in a way that creates noise and nuisance to residents".

Residents are being asked to make a note of registration numbers.

The gatherings are not unlawful, but Sgt Rogerson said they have been "causing a misery to local residents".

Officers from the roads policing unit have been running a series of operations aimed at stopping anti-social behaviour and trespassing.

Sgt Rogerson said: "Our aim is to make the Papworth area an inhospitable place for those motorists wishing to break the law and cause a nuisance."
