Cambridgeshire car boot police evader calls 999 for rescue

A man who locked himself in the boot of his car to evade questioning by police in Cambridgeshire had to call 999 when he become trapped.

Officers said the man believed he was being sought in connection with an incident on Monday and hid in the boot.

He dialled 999 the next day after realising he could not free himself.

After he was released from his car in Willow Walk, Ely, officers told him they did not need to speak to him after all. He was treated for dehydration.

Cambridgeshire Fire Service said it took them "some time" to locate the car.
