A motorcycle police officer has been seriously injured when he was in collision with a car which failed to stop in Cambridgeshire.

The crash, involving a black BMW, happened near junction 10 of the M11, at about 16:00 BST on Monday.

The officer has serious but not life-threatening injuries to his legs.

The BMW driver did not stop but the car was later found in Harston. Police said they were looking for five men in connection with the crash.

Det Sgt Sarah Gaylor, from Cambridgeshire Police, said: "It is fortunate the officer was not more seriously injured."

After being treated by paramedics at the scene, the police officer was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
