A Russian dissident who now lives in Cambridge has appeared in court to deny possessing and making indecent photographs of children.

Vladimir Bukovsky, 72, appeared before Cambridge magistrates after missing previous hearings due to ill health.

He pleaded not guilty to five counts of making indecent images, five of possessing indecent images and one of possessing a prohibited image.

The offences are alleged to have happened on or before 28 October 2014.

The alleged items included still and video images of children, the court heard.

Mr Bukovsky, of Gilbert Road, Cambridge, was released on unconditional bail ahead of his next appearance at Cambridge Crown Court on 1 September.
